Experiments: Physiology and Genetics

At this point, you should be getting caught up to speed on sequential hermaphroditism. We’ve covered the general concept, different types of hermaphroditism, evolutionary trends, and explored general sexual systems of several species of sequential hermaphrodites. This section will look at two experiments exploring the physiology and transcriptomics/genomics of sequential hermaphroditism. To make things simpler, these studies are oriented towards some of the species we have already covered. These experiments may seem quite complicated, and links to helpful resources will be provided where possible.
